Monty Python and the Holy Grail A British Parody By: Norwin Adarve Monty Python and the Holy Grail has been a comic success in the film industry for almost four decades. The main reason for its success is because the jokes have kept the audience laughing whether they watched it in 1975 or just saw the comedy for the first time yesterday. Monty Python and the Holy Grail would fall under two categories of comedy, a satire and a parody. In contemporary usage, a parody is a work that imitates another work in order to; ridicule, ironically comment on, or poke fun at the work itself; the subject of the work, the author or fictional voice of the parody, or another subject. Satire on the other hand is usually witty, and often very funny,†¦show more content†¦This is parodied in Monty Python and the Holy Grail when King Arthur and his band, constantly run away for bad situations (the bombardment of random farm animals on them at the French castle and the massacre of many of their men by a vicious rabbit). On a side note In Medieval times during batt le opposing sides would often hurtle dead animal carcasses into their enemy’s camp or castle to spread disease. Another scene that is used much in the same way is the one where Robin runs away from a three-headed monster as background music sings of brave Sir Robin. A different instance where the movie satirizes the Knights courage in a negligent way is when King Arthur cuts off the limbs of a black knight that will not let him pass in the forest. Even without any legs, the knight still continues to badmouth Arthur in hopes that he will fight him. This scene is paralleled in a more serious way in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Where the Green Knight takes two swipes at the neck of Gawain and intentionally misses and Gawain prompts the Knight to finish the game and strike him dead. The Green Knight obliges and nicks him across the neck. (Tolkien) Courtly love was the idea that love worshipped from afar was superlative, and that only noble people were worthy of love. Answer: Introduction As an online learner, aiming to be a professional in the field of early childhood primary, I have learned that it is necessary to acquire some personal skills and integrate the online knowledge sources for being successful in my future career goals. The skills and attributes I need in order to be successful are the effective communication skills, creativity, collaborative attitude, critical thinking, media literacy, cross-cultural competency, social intelligence and a design mind set. As a bachelor of early childhood primary, I have a career opportunity in the education and psychological assistance sector. In the context of my interest area I need to develop skills of critical thinking, insight and analysis as those will help me in understanding the problems and potentiality of my clients. On the other hand, effective communication skill, collaborative attitude, and cross-cultural competency will be needed to support my clients with the best possible interdisciplinary assistance available in different parts of the world. My area of interest involves a regular development in its theoretical domain. Hence, media literacy is typically important for compete and being professionally eligible and credible in the future. Moreover, my p rofessional challenges will include designing client-centric approach for effective assistance to the client. Hence, for addressing those issues, I will need the social intelligence and a design mindset. Learning online is different because it largely involves the principles of Constructivism and Social Constructivism, idealized by Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky (Johnston, 2015). Future classrooms are going to be wholly connected to the greater social scenarios for sharing knowledge and information; address issues by negotiating with others, test and synthesize the ideas and thus building a deeper understanding of the learnt knowledge. The previous techniques of leaning treated the learner under the microscope of the transmissionist model of education in which the learner was considered as a "'blank slate" (Montague et al., 2014). Here, the learner had to assimilate new information with the old ones without making any critical analysis and interrelated development of them. On the other hand, the digital learning or the online learning process puts importance on the Cognitive Strategy Instruction (CSI) approach which accentuates the improvement of thinking skills and methods as a means to enhance learning and directing the students to be more strategic, self-reliant, and flexible (Pampaka Williams, 2016). As mentioned by Weng (2015), in the rapidly changing world of globalization and mass media dominance, these are the important skills those are needed to be developed within the learners for achieving success in their future career goals. The online learning approach makes the learners more media literate, socially intelligent, collaborative and inclusively informative than the traditional learning processes. To consume, produce and share credible information in areas of interest and study, I need to evaluate the credibility of the online sources of information. In the course of this session, I have come to know about various sources of learning and information available in the web platforms. These are helpful in creating our own cognitive skills and opinion on a number of topics. However, as mentioned by Metzger (2007), for effective usage of the information, it is important to identify its credibility depending on five criteria- "accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage." Identification of the credibility of the online information is needed for providing effective service and authentic knowledge base. For evaluating the credibility it is important to examine the accuracy, i.e. the Correctness of the information, authority, i.e. the experience and popularity of the author of the content, currency i.e. the frequency of updates in that source, objectivity i.e. the impartial attitude of the source and the coverage i.e. the research-based accuracy of the content (Crawford-Ferre Wiest, 2012). These online learning sessions have given me the idea that credible knowledge sources will help me in positively improving my professional knowledge base. On the other hand, a less credible source will provide a partial or even inaccurate knowledge which will in create an appropriate service result for my clients. To conclude, I can say that this online course or the sessions have given me the idea about the needed skills and knowledge for obtaining a successful career in future. It has provided me the information of various online sources which can help me in augmenting my educational and professional knowledge. Moreover, it has made me understand the importance of assessing the credibility of the online information sources for the effective use of the knowledge for appropriately addressing the issues.
